Help Prevent Unnecessary Fire Brigade Call-Outs and Significant Charges

All residents and owners are reminded that the smoke detectors located in the common areas of the building are connected directly to the building’s Fire Indicator Panel. When activated, the system automatically notifies Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV).
Once an alarm has been triggered, the emergency response cannot be cancelled and FRV is required to attend the property to ensure resident safety.
Common Causes of False Alarm Activations
False alarms are often caused by activities that allow smoke, steam, dust or vapour to enter common areas, including:
- 🍳 Cooking fumes escaping from apartments.
- 🚪 Opening apartment doors to clear cooking smoke or burnt food.
- 🔨 Dust created by contractors undertaking renovation or maintenance works.
- 🧼 Carpet steam cleaning equipment.
- 🏠 Carpet installation works involving heat or steam.
- 🚭 Smoking or vaping in common areas (strictly prohibited).

If contractors will be undertaking works that may generate dust, steam, smoke or vapour, please notify Building Management or the Owners Corporation beforehand.
Arrangements may be made to temporarily isolate affected smoke detectors while works are being undertaken and reactivate them once completed. Please note that a service charge may apply for this process.
💰 False Alarm Charges Can Be Significant
Fire Rescue Victoria may impose penalties of up to $5,000 per attendance for false alarm call-outs.
Where a false alarm can be attributed to a resident, occupier, contractor or apartment, any associated costs may be recovered from the responsible party or apartment owner.
